Summary The domesticated animals that are raised in specific agricultural settings are known as livestock. They are used for various purposes such as labor and production of commodities including meat, milk, leather, fur and wool. Livestock is a broad term that can refer to any species of animals that are kept by humans for domestic or commercial purposes. It includes domestic animals like camel and cattle as semi-domestic animals such as fallow deer and reindeer. Livestock production plays a vital role both economically and culturally in various rural communities.
