&lt;p style=&quot;text-align: justify;&quot;&gt;ศิลปินแห่งชาติทั้ง ๑๖ ท่าน จะเข้ารับพระราชทานเข็มและโล่เชิดชูเกียรติจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวหรือผู้แทนพระองค์ในวันศิลปินแห่งชาติ ซึ่งตรงกับวันที่ ๒๔ กุมภาพันธ์ ๒๕๕๖ และได้รับค่าตอบแทนรายเดือนๆละ ๒๐,๐๐๐ บาท รวมถึงเบิกค่ารักษาพยาบาลได้ตามกองทุนส่งเสริมงานด้านวัฒนธรรม ในฐานะต้นแบบในการถ่ายทอด และเผยแพร่ศิลปวัฒนธรรมที่มีคุณค่าให้กับคนรุ่นหลัง โดยเป็นผู้ที่มีความสามารถ มีความเชี่ยวชาญ และมีผลงานโดดเด่นเป็นที่ยอมรับของวงการศิลปะ&lt;br /&gt;ศิลปินแห่งชาติที่ได้รับการยกย่องเชิดชูเกียรติไปแล้ว ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๘-๒๕๕๕ มีจำนวน ๒๓๗ ท่าน แบ่งเป็นสาขา ทัศนศิลป์ ๖๖ ท่าน วรรณศิลป์ ๓๙ ท่าน และศิลปะการแสดง ๑๓๒ ท่าน ส่วนศิลปินแห่งชาติที่เสียชีวิตไปแล้วทั้งหมด ๙๗ ท่าน และยังมีชีวิตอยู่ ๑๔๐ ท่าน&lt;/p&gt;
